We have all sorts of holiday food compressed into a mere month this year: Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Solstice (it’s on a Saturday, time for dinner parties), Christmas Eve, Christmas (two distinct events), Boxing Day (why not?). . . and then a few days later we’ve got  New Year’s Eve. In my world, “New Year’s Eve” is another way of saying “time for oysters.”
