I continue my 0-Umpteen record of naming my Vermont Public Radio commentary files in such a way that the producers are moved to use my selected title. A commentary formerly known as “The Omelet” (it suggests so many possibilities – like, what kind of omelet? And did it come with toast? And was the toast pre-buttered? . . . because I don’t like that, I want butter control) became “Everyone’s a Critic.”
The fact that in the sentence introducing this commentary I managed to create a hypothetical toast scenario and then criticize it somewhat undercuts the central point of this commentary, which is about not getting hung up on criticism.

Here’s a piece of recommended reading to go with this very short commentary:
This piece is a much more nuanced look at the role of online customer reviews as regards restaurants. And it won a James Bear Award this year. And I bet VPR would not keep that title if I submitted it for a commentary.
