More Americana. . . Recipes & Recommended Reading

Over on my Hel’s Kitchen Menu Notes blog, I’ve got a string of posts related to foods of different American regions. That blog, along with the restaurant menu, is about to ocean hop over to Europe now, so it seemed like a good time for a round up plus a few other pieces of recommended reading. Here goes:

Plus a Lowcountry Cuisine Article “True Grits” by Burkhard Bilger
And a South Carolina article: “The Forgotten Harvest” by Jack Hitt in Garden & Gun

And one additional American-Mexican Food article: “Finding Home at Taco Bell” by John DeVore

And also, I can’t think of American cooking without immediately thinking of this frosting recipe from Robicellis: A Love Story, With Cupcakes. It appears immediately after the French buttercream frosting recipe (which, by the way, is the only buttercream for me but I like the American comic better. . . and I have no explanation for why I am so tremendously picky about my buttercreams). Oh, and it uses cuss words so don’t scroll down if you won’t like that sort of thing.
